One number for your taste
How far does your watching stray from the multiplex? Your Cinephile Score answers out of 100, across five tiers from Popcorn to Criterion Closet.
- The points you need to reach the next tier
- The deep cuts that lifted your score
- A score of its own for any single year
The faces you keep coming back to
Every actor, director and crew member in your library, matched against TMDB and ranked two ways: by how often you watch them, and by how highly you rate them. They are rarely the same list.
- Your top-billed cast, and a director's chair for every favourite
- Writers, editors, cinematographers, composers and studios
- Most watched or highest rated, one tap apart
Your cinema passport
A world map lit up by every film you've watched, with stamps for the countries you visit most, and every language you've heard on screen.
- Flip to Highest Rated and the map recolours by your ratings
- Your top countries and languages, with their share of your diary
How much of the canon have you seen?
Seventeen canonical lists, from the IMDb Top 250 and the AFI 100 to Sight & Sound's greatest and the Palme d'Or. Your two most finished go in the 3D glasses.
- Every dial opens the list, so you can see what is left
- Progress moves as you log
Your headliner, your golden era
Your top genre goes up on the marquee and every other genre gets a row in the seating chart. Then the themes you keep buying tickets for, and your best film of every decade.
- A frame from your highest rated film of each decade
- Recurring themes, from coming of age to time travel
Any year, week by week
Switch the showtime to a single year and the whole page re-reads for it: how it opened and how it closed, the films you went back for, a wall of every poster, and the box office week by week.
- Every year in your diary, not only this one
- Your watch dates never leave your browser
Your circle and the critics
See what the people you follow thought, drawn like Letterboxd's own ratings chart, without digging through the friends tab. Under it, IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic, each linking back to its source.
- Friends' ratings work in your browser, with nothing sent anywhere
- A master switch for the scores, and one for each source
Three steps to your seat

From the Chrome Web Store or Firefox Add-ons. Free, with no account and no sign-up.
Press Stats
A Stats button appears in Letterboxd's header, lit like a marquee. Press it on your profile.
Say yes, once
Agree to the one-time notice and let it read your Letterboxd export, in your browser. Your recap plays, and keeps up as you log.
We'd rather show you than promise you
Friends' ratings is fully local: it reads the page you are already on and works it out in your browser. Stats is the only tool that sends anything, and only after you say yes. This is the whole request:
{ "films": [ { "slug": "parasite-2019", "rating": 4.5 }, { "slug": "the-godfather", "rating": 5 }, { "slug": "in-bruges", "rating": null } ] }
WHAT WE NEVER SEND
Your nameYour Letterboxd usernameYour email or your loginYour watch datesYour browsing historyYour IP address, stored or logged
It tallies your list, returns the result and stores none of it. No account, no database row, nothing to leak.
Your Letterboxd export is read in your browser, in memory, and only with your yes. Your reviews and your email in it are never opened.
Nothing is read or sent until you accept the one-time notice. Critic scores have a master switch; with it off, no request is made at all.
Before you take your seat
Is it really free?
Yes. No ads, no premium tier and no account. Letterboxd Toolkit is an independent, fan-made project.
Which browsers does it work in?
Chrome, Edge and Brave through the Chrome Web Store, and Firefox through Firefox Add-ons, on a computer.
Can you see my Letterboxd account?
No. Your login, your username and your email are never sent anywhere. The extension works inside your own browser, and the only thing our server receives is the list of films and your rating for each.
Why does it ask for my Letterboxd export?
Letterboxd no longer lets extensions read your films pages one after another, so the extension asks, once, to use your data export instead. It is read in memory, in your browser, and your reviews and your email in it are never opened. You can also pick the file yourself.
Can I hide the sections I don't care about?
Yes. Every section has its own switch in the extension's settings. Turn one off and it leaves the page and the share card.
Where do the numbers come from?
Your films, ratings and dates come from your own Letterboxd diary. Cast, crew, countries and languages come from The Movie Database (TMDB), and the critic scores from the OMDb API.
